Tania Choi is a registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern and graduate of Santa Clara University. She incorporates role play, art, writing, guided imagery and mindfulness-based practices in her work with clients. With individuals, her specific interests and experience lie in the areas of codependency, boundaries, differentiation, sprituality, individuation, cultural issues, grief, anger and anxiety. Tania also has a special passion for working with couples in crisis and transition. She leverages the work of Imago (Getting the Love you Want) in facilitating the work of communication, differentiation, reconnection and recovery.
In addition to her private practice at Christian Counseling Center, Tania works as a school counselor at St Lawrence Elementary and Middle school. In the school (and in private practice), she works with children and teens through issues of divorce, grief, trauma recovery, alcohol and drug usage. Her love for children started as a researcher at Stanford School of Education as she studied preschoolers at Bing Nursery -- Stanford's experimental laboratory for young children. Tania has run social skills groups for teens, 13 week divorce-care for children, as well as codependency groups for women. She has consulted with the Palo Alto School District as well as taught teen parenting classes at a local church.
Her MA in Counseling Psychology is the culmination of many past lives as a graphic designer, writer and educational technologist. She is a believer of 12-step programs and is a grateful member of Al-anon and CODA enjoying the larger spiritual community. Tania was born and raised in Singapore and is bilingual in Mandarin and English. In her spare time, she loves on a husband of 16 years and two school aged children.
